The Mildura International Balloon Fiesta will stage a competition balloon event in Mildura to commemorate 20 years since they held the 2004 World Hot Air Balloon Championships.
Thirty hot air balloons from across Australia will grace the skies over Sunraysia during this time. The main launch site for balloons will be the SuniTAFE field on Benetook Avenue with balloons launching at 7:00am and 4:00pm, weather permitting.
Information will appear on the Big Balloon Bash Facebook event page with updates also given on the ABC and Triple M radio stations each morning before the flight.
There are two feature events. The first is the Christie Centre Night Glow at Number 1 oval where all 30 balloons will light up the night sky, choreographed to music. The second will be the Gowers Homes Key Grab on Saturday 6 July. This will be spectacular and exciting to watch. Spectators are encouraged to park in the SuniTAFE carpark 2 and walk to the fence line to watch the balloons fly in.
During the week’s competition flights the public is invited to follow the balloons to the target sites around Sunraysia and watch the flying precision of pilots as they drop markers on large white targets. The closest to the centre wins!
